PDP Architecture llp an award-winning practice was established in 1983 as Parnell Design Partnership by original Partners John Parnell and Mike Willenbruch. The Practice has been based in Havant, Hampshire since 1990. Our commissions cover an extensive area across the south, from the West Country along the south coast to Kent and as far north as the Midlands.
Today the Practice Partners are Michael Saunders BA (Hons) Dip Arch MA RIBA and Heather McCrudden BA (Hons) Dip Arch MA RIBA.
Michael has been with the Practice since 2003, becoming an Associate in 2011 and a Partner in 2013 and leads the Practice’s design strategy of producing good design that is cost effective and factors in regulatory compliance and buildability from inception. Heather joined PDP in 2008, becoming an Associate in 2014, and a Partner in 2015. Alongside her design skills, Heather has a keen interest in contract administration and how the Practice can operate more efficiently. Both Partners are always directly involved with the Client on every project and take an active role in supervising project staff. Louise Fell is our Practice Manager, organising the administration side of the Practice.

This ensures even at the inception of a feasibility study, the appropriate standards and guidance are factored in to give realistic appraisals of sites and their potential. Such a practical approach to design is carried through a projects life to ensure quality design and cost-effective buildability are driving factors, and the Practice prides itself on a high percentage of planning approvals and built schemes to client satisfaction and factoring in the needs and experiences of the end user.
The Practice also factors in the requirements of the CDM 2015 and BSA 2022 regulations within our Principal Designer services. We believe the ethos of the Principal Designer role under the above regulations is for the designer to factor in project and design safety as the project progresses so that it is an integral part of the design process.
We are innovative in maximising the potential of the sites by assessing the site context and considering the use of the latest technologies, sustainable products and systems. We have a wide experience in using Modern Methods of Construction, Off Site Manufacturing and modular construction as well as the more conventional traditional masonry, thin joint construction, steel frame and timber frame construction methods. The Practice also has extensive experience of sustainable design, meeting the former CfSH levels 3, 4 and 5 as well as working on projects which meet PassivHaus, Future Homes Standard and Net Zero Carbon criteria.
