The scheme is split into two defined structures. An 80-bed nursing home forms the main building and is sited on the north and east boundaries which border Newgate Lane/ Gosport Road and Redlands Lane. The building is a three-storey block with the road frontage defined as four residential blocks linked by recessed glazed elements. A curved glazed feature element containing a double height residents’ lounge wraps the corner to form an “L” shape on plan. The breaking up of the elevation into the four blocks and corner element reduce the overall scale and massing of the building to provide a residential scale. The curved glazed lounges address the prominent corner of the site. There are also 6 bungalows (3 nr 1-bed and 3 nr 2-bed) on the site, opposite the nursing home and are arranged on plan to create a contained central landscaped garden. The entire scheme is gated and fully landscaped, with construction completed in the summer 2012.
