PDP Architecture llp achieved planning consent in March 2015 to form a new cricket pavilion and cafe.

The extension has been designed to unify the new cricket pavilion to the existing building, through the use of materials and scale. A centrally located balcony provides views over the park whilst creating a visual link between the old and the new. The new roof curves downwards towards the park, providing solar shading during the midday sun and giving the extension a simple yet contemporary aesthetic. The timber effect cladding and buff brickwork used helps the new building fit into the surrounding park and tie in with features found within the existing community centre.

The extension has been funded via The National Lottery Grant and is now open to the public. It was a finalist & winner for the 2018 LABC South-East Building Excellence awards.
