Proposed Extra Care Sheltered Housing, Fareham

The concept of the development is to provide an Extra Care scheme for the elderly with associated 1-bed bungalow units and day care centre facilities set within a secure landscaped environment. The scheme is to be of a high quality design and meet the required needs of the end user.

The project includes a mix of 1-bed and 2-bed apartments comprising a total of 48 units within the main Block A (3 to 4 storey in height) and 10 units within Block B (2 to 3 storey in height). Adjoining Block B are 4 no. 1-bed bungalows forming a comprehensive development set within the landscaped grounds.

An independent day care centre is to be provided for use by elderly residents in the wider community with associated lounge, dining and other ancillary spaces for relevant activities. A full prep kitchen is also included within this part of the scheme. This allows the areas for resident’s sole use to be separate and within the resident’s curtilage.

All units will be designed to meet required standards for adaptability for wheelchair use, and will have access to external balconies. Care bathrooms, laundries and a guest bedroom have also been included.
